Exciting times are upon us again (well, they never stopped, really…)! It’s time to move!
We picked up our keys and signed the lease for our new apartment yesterday and today I went over to look everything through and check the inventory. I also took a few pictures for you guys.
Our new place is right next to a big park behind the university where Trev works. I am SO looking forward to being able to spend a sunny day in the green, have a walk in the evening or for lunchbreak, and just generally getting out during the day more.
The building we live in at the moment is absolutely vast and it takes so long only to get outside. Then it also is in a very urban, industrial area so there’s nowhere really to go and enjoy the outsides.
The kitchen is on the right. I’m very excited about the gas stove. I’ve never lived in a place with a gas stove (they are considered very outdated in Switzerland… gas stoves are for camping!). Well, first it needs fixing because it doesn’t work, but that’s a different thing, haha!
I really adore the white country style cupboards with the pretty little silver knobs. So romantic!
I was also delighted to see that the kitchen is quite well equipped with baking trays, and even a pie dish and a muffin tray. Also, the oven seems to be a bit more modern than the one we have now. I can’t wait to get baking!
And here’s the livingroom! It’s quite spacious, and it has a little alcove where you can sit at the table and look out onto the park. When Trev saw there was a little turret he totally went “I need this flat!”.
This is the master bedroom. It’s huge!! Having two bedrooms was a big wish we had for our new place, so that we could accommodate our differing needs for sleep and work space. (I tend to get up early, Trev likes to stay up late. At the moment we had to adjust to one rhythm because we kept keeping each other up when pottering about).
I calculated that before I met Trev, I had moved exactly three times in my whole life: Across the street when I was about 2years old (I don’t remember), then once when I moved out from home and a third time when I got my own place after living in a shared apartment during my studies.
In the almost five years since Trev and I have been together I have moved six times already, and this will be my seventh time moving house. It feels quite crazy, but I still get so excited every time. I love nesting into a new home. I love packing up things, and unpacking them, getting to organise and downsize everything in the process. Making plans for decorating, making things pretty, exploring new surroundings… it’s so exciting! (Part of the reason I post these pictures here is so we’ll have a ‘before’ reference for when I’ve made everything nice and cosy!)
I’m very looking forward to start packing boxes tomorrow!
