Nesting: An inspiring workplace

Now that I’m super happy with my sleeping room, I’ve been focusing on my workspace for the past few weeks.

This weekend I actually felt a surge of energy and I started to clean up my utterly cluttered desk  make some additions to the space I felt would make it more lovable.

My ‘atelier’ is actually just a desk in a corner of out living room, so there’s not a lot of space that I can use for myself. But I don’t need too much, either. I’ve got everything stored away so I know where to find it, and I try to keep my working surface cleaned up (a constant struggle) and ready for creating or office work.

I have a lot of pictures around, both things I’ve created and pictures of artists that inspire me. Most of them have been with me for a long time, but others I completed just recently, and looking at them makes me proud and encourages me to go on creating.

I recently found this giant magnetic whiteboard at the thriftstore for three bucks. I cleaned it and put it on my easel because it’s hard to hang things on the hard concrete walls. This way, it’s right where I need it so I can add quotes and inspiring bits and pieces to it to create an inspiration board.

I bought some whiteboard markers, a notebook and a new eraser (super important!) to celebrate and now I might just sit down and enjoy my little space. I’m not sure if it’s finished yet, but I might think of new things to add or change once I’ve used it for a while.

At the moment, I’m quite happy with how it makes me feel, and that’s the most important thing.

the books are from left to right: a book about sign language, a christmas children’s book, a book about yoga, a book about women’s psychology and a book about vegan athlete’s nutrition.
